Cognisant is supporting a leading housebuilder in their search for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial aspects of multiple housing projects from conception to completion. This vital role involves informing land purchase decisions with detailed material and labour cost analysis, as well as fulfilling all Commercial duties outlined by CDM.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the flow of Health and Safety information from the Commercial Department
Monitor and report build costs periodically reporting any savings and excesses
Calculating and reporting on prime costs on developments within the business
Maintaining and reconciling whole site infrastructure budgets
Provide a detailed cost budget and share with the Site Manager at the appropriate time
Prepare estimates of all prime costs including subcontract and materials
Assist in finalising/agreeing Housing Association contracts
Manage Housing Association valuations and attend meetings on site
Report on savings and excesses against budget costs to the Director
Monitor and explain subcontractor cost movements
Responsible for procurement of subcontractors including payments, variation orders and day works and settlement of final accounts.
You will have proven strong managerial and negotiation skills with both internal and external clients, and are highly IT literate. You will ideally be a member of CIOB or RICS.
